I\u2019ve been having a lot of fun producing The Weekly Mix. Its different from other shows I\u2019ve produced in the past because it\u2019s short and informal. I\u2019m not trying to craft a seamless mix that\u2019ll take you on an emotional journey like I\u2019ve done on solipsistic NATION<\/a>, the electronic music show I used to do. And when I do the occasional interview on The Weekly Mix they\u2019re quick, usually around five minutes, instead of the long form interviews I\u2019m used to doing.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m also not trying to build up an enormous audience for the show. It\u2019s mostly for my friends and family to enjoy. But look, if you like the show and you want to turn other people on to The Weekly Mix, I\u2019d certainly appreciate it. The more people who listen to the show the more musical guests I can get on the show. Besides, why keep The Weekly Mix to yourself?<\/p>\n

The other thing I\u2019ve been doing differently is using Periscope<\/a> and Facebook Live to promote The Weekly Mix. I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s actually making a difference but it\u2019s fun and I plan on exploring the possibilities of streaming video. For example, this Friday I\u2019ll be interviewing The Brevet<\/a> on Facebook Live when they perform here in San Diego at Lestat\u2019s<\/a>. I\u2019ll also stream one or two of their songs they\u2019ll be performing while in town. And I\u2019ll also be using the Rode VideoMic Me<\/a> that my friend Robin turned me on to, so I\u2019ve got an extra reason to be excited about that show.
