Each guest deejay leads to another guest deejay.<\/p>\n\n<p>In January, <a href=\"https:\/\/radboudmens.bandcamp.com\/\" title=\"Radboud Mens\">Radboud Mens<\/a> dropped a devastating set, which you can listen to <a href=\"http:\/\/josephaleo.com\/blog\/soundwave-179-radboud-mens\/\" title=\"SOUNDWAVE : 179 : RADBOUD MENS\">here<\/a>. Afterward, I asked Radboud who he thought would share a mix on Soundwave, and he thought I would share a mix on Soundwave. Radboud suggested Marc, saying, \u201chis stuff is quite diverse, from sound art to ambient drone.\u201d Uh-huh. That doesn\u2019t begin to scratch the surface of Marc\u2019s sonic explorations.<\/p>\n\n<p>Marc is a multidisciplinary fine arts, music, theatre, and literature artist. He explores electronic and concrete music, installation, performance, photography, text, and video. He has over 30 music albums released since 1989 and has exhibited and performed internationally. Marc is known for radio dramas like <em>Progress<\/em> (2013) and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/marc-behrens\/nachtsprache\" title=\"Nachtsprache\">Nachtsprache<\/a><\/em> (2021) and collaborated on the album <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wasserbassin.com\/site\/product\/atom-marc-behrens-bauteile-cd\/\" title=\"Bauteile\">Bauteile<\/a><\/em> (2014) with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.atom-tm.com\/\" title=\"Atom\u2122\">Atom\u2122<\/a>. Marc is a member of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.degem.de\" title=\"DEGEM\">DEGEM<\/a>, ran the label <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/marc-behrens\/animal-art-how\" title=\"Animal Art\">Animal Art<\/a> (1989\u20131993), and founded Availabel in 2014. Marc has also taught at various institutions and mentored young artists.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>Whew!<\/em> And that\u2019s just a brief bio of Marc. And today\u2019s show is a snapshot of Marc\u2019s work. Marc\u2019s creativity is unrelenting. If you love today\u2019s mix, and I know you will, then you\u2019ll be thrilled to know that you can look forward to his recent and fetching releases. They are <em><a href=\"https:\/\/marcbehrens.bandcamp.com\/album\/our-tongues-in-your-ears\" title=\"Our Tongues in Your Ears\">Our Tongues in Your Ears<\/a><\/em>, which was released in April on Marc\u2019s label, Availabel. Thanks to Radboud Mens, who recommended me to Joseph Aleo.<\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.discogs.com\/release\/2074294-M-Behrens-Entomo\" title=\"March Behrens - Entomo\">\u201cFeet or Fist\u201d (1989)<\/a><br>A piece from the cassette album <em>Entomo<\/em> from 1989, my third-ever release, played with a Casio SK-5 Sampling Keyboard, a bamboo clarinet, and some percussion. <\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"Andrea%20Ricci%20%C2%B7%20Marc%20Behrens%20%C2%B7%20Miguel%20Isaza%20%C2%B7%20Mogano\" title=\"https:\/\/901editions.bandcamp.com\/album\/quark-how-does-the-invisible-sound-q09\">\u201cFever\u201d (2015)<\/a><\/p>\n\n<p>All sounds were generated from the recording of a fever delirium in the Summer of 1988, processed with the Cconfin software by Ennio Mazzon. They were produced for the project <em>Quark: How Does the Invisible Sound?<\/em>, by invitation of <a href=\"https:\/\/fabioperletta.bandcamp.com\" title=\"Fabio Perletta\">Fabio Perletta<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cronicaelectronica.org\/017\/\" title=\"Product 04\">\u201cI was Never (Long Version)\u201d (2004)<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cronicaelectronica.org\/017\/\" title=\"Product 04\">\u201cA Disco Boy (Long Version)\u201d (2004)<\/a><br>Longer versions of two short pieces that were released on the split-10\u2033 EP <em>Product 04<\/em> on Cr\u00f3nica, Portugal. Original sound material generated from remixes of music beyond the human listening range, originally by the Japanese artist *0. Voices culled from a presentation of the remixes.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201ceeaiooaeieeaiooaei (2011)\u201d<br>Part two of a cycle of three pieces composed with recordings of voices made in 1990 (solo voice: Kerstin Menz), and voltage-controlled car horns made in 2002.<\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/impulsivehabitat.com\/releases\/ihab094.htm\" title=\"Impulsive Habitat\">\u201cPaiva Players (2011)\u201d<\/a><br>Entirely composed with field recordings of the landscape, animals, people and supposedly supernatural beings of the Paiva River in Portugal (and, oh yes, the electronic church bell of Nodar village!). Recordings made during a residency at Binaural in 2010, a place devoted to sound art, art in rural areas, and also rural culture. This is an unreleased alternate mix of material from my album <em>Recurrent<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/marcbehrens.bandcamp.com\/album\/apparatus\" title=\"Apparatus\">\u201cMamori (2008)\u201d<\/a><br>Composed with field recordings made in the Amazon rainforest while on a residency at Mamori lake, a project led by Francisco L\u00f3pez at the time. Mostly birds, insects, frogs and tree frogs \u2013 and a howling monkey.
