Today\u2019s guest deejay is Sanderson Dear<\/a>, the founder of Stasis Recordings<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

Sanderson shared a mix<\/a> with us last year after Rub\u00e9n Tamayo<\/a> (listen to Rub\u00e9n\u2019s mix here<\/a>) was kind enough to introduce us. I enjoyed Sanderson\u2019s mix so much that I asked if he\u2019d return, and he did not disappoint. Sanderson has words about his mix below, so I\u2019m not going to spoil anything except today\u2019s mix is just as fantastic and surprising as his last mix. Maybe more so.<\/p>\n\n

Thank you, Joseph, for having me back at Soundwave to do a second mix for you.<\/p>\n\n

This one has a similar chillout vibe to my previous mix but hits so with different tones. I still very much showcase the talents of my label mates but also decided to expand the mix to include a lot of the components typically heard in any 99% of the chillout mixes I do: a liberal amount of movie scores, with the odd shout out and nod to the 80s and new wave. <\/p>\n\n

The mix starts with one of the tunes from our 2020 commemorative release. John Beltran<\/a>\u2019s track and Louis Haiman<\/a>\u2019s are from our Time Capsule<\/a><\/em> box set. It celebrated our 10th anniversary of releasing music. It was and still is the biggest project we\u2019ve put together. a box of 10 7\u201d singles: one for each catalog year.<\/p>\n\n

After John\u2019s label track, I completely indulged in my love of movie score soundtracks. Starting with Clint Mansell<\/a>\u2019s work from In The Earth<\/a><\/em>. David Shire<\/a>\u2019s composition from the original Taking Of Pelham One Two Three<\/a><\/em> and Fred Karlin<\/a>\u2019s piece from the original Westworld<\/a><\/em> movie. Jay Wadley<\/a>\u2019s track from Swan Song<\/a><\/em>, Tan Dun\u2019s elegant score from Hero<\/a><\/em>, and one my favorite all-time gangster crime movies, New World<\/em>, which Seok Suengh-Hee<\/a>\u2019s track is from. <\/p>\n\n

I also touched on some material attached to future Stasis Recordings releases by Francisco Foo<\/a>, Inhmost + Owl, SubDan<\/a>, and Mellonius One<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n
