Today\u2019s guest deejay is Riz Maslen<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

Riz\u2019s last mix for Soundwave is what I imagine a mix from Wes Anderson might sound like at first. But then Riz pivoted to Egyptian jazz-inspired psychedelic rock, to trip-hop, and moved on. And yet, it all hung together seamlessly.<\/p>\n\n

I was so delighted with Riz\u2019s mix that I invited her to share more beautiful music. And, wow, did Riz Maslen deliver!<\/p>\n\n

Riz\u2019s mix is a fusion of both contemporary and classics, but I was instantly smitten with Arooj Aftab<\/a>\u2019s \u201cInayaat\u201d (check out<\/a> my mix featuring Arooj). Riz\u2019s mix will swaddle you in an immersive listening experience. It\u2019s been the soundtrack to my morning commutes for the last few weeks, and it\u2019s a pleasure to share it with you.<\/p>\n\n

Riz\u2019s new second album will be released in 2024 from Aircooled<\/a>, her new band born out of lockdown with Oliver Cherer<\/a>, Justin Welch<\/a>, and Katherine Wallinger<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n
