Today\u2019s guest deejay is Adam Parks<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

Adam is a Virginia-based artist and musician with two main music projects: timber rattle<\/a> and Lightning White Bison<\/a>. timber rattle is his primary endeavor, exploring the connection between primordial sound, landscape, and human relationships with space. Lightning White Bison is more abstract and experimental, incorporating field recordings and improvisations.<\/p>\n\n

I met Adam through Mkl Anderson, AKA, Drekka<\/a>, after Mkl shared a mix<\/a> on Soundwave. As is my want, I asked Mkl who he knew would also share a mix with us, and he highly recommended Adam Parks. Mkl said Adam is his spirit animal, and it is anyone\u2019s guess what kind of mix he might come up with.<\/p>\n\n

Mkl was dead on.<\/p>\n\n

I often describe Soundwave as a show where each track in the guest deejay\u2019s mix is lovingly handpicked. Adam\u2019s devotion and adoration are evident, from rare tracks to found sounds to field recordings. The first words in Adam\u2019s mix describe it best: \u201cOh, beautiful. Wow!\u201d<\/p>\n\n

This mix seeks to dissolve into a more contiguous \u201cpiece,\u201d composed of music that is often inherently contemplative, recursive, ritualistic, and, hence, meditative, music that willfully allows itself to act as a canvas for environmental sounds (some of which are contained therein, others of which are warmly invited from wherever one may be listening), and music that embodies the notion of \u201cfidelity\u201d as faithfulness to the spirit of sound, process, place and\/or moment.<\/p>\n\n
