Today\u2019s guest deejay is Dan Handrabur<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

Dan records and performs under many names: Dreamdoktor<\/a>, Dreamlogic<\/a>, and HAN<\/a>. I know him as Vuemorph<\/a>, from the excellent From Here To Tranquility Volume 3<\/a><\/em> compilation album.<\/p>\n\n

During the summer, I looked over the remainder of the schedule for Soundwave for 2022. There were a few slots open, and I decided to do retrospective mixes featuring music from the Ambient Dub<\/a><\/em>, Excursions In Ambience<\/a><\/em>, and From Here To Tranquility<\/a><\/em> compilation albums. Re-listening those albums inspired me to invite the musicians who appeared on those albums to guest deejay on Soundwave. Dan was the first to send me a mix, which I\u2019m thrilled to share on today\u2019s show. You can expect to hear those mixes in the next few months.<\/p>\n\n

Despite knowing Dan from Vuemorph, I had no preconceptions about what Dan\u2019s mix would sound like. Even so, I was surprised.<\/p>\n\n

Dan calls this his HAN mix and describes it as a post muzika pandemik poem. I don\u2019t know what to make of that. What does it mean to live in a post-pandemic world? Something has shifted. It\u2019s not the same world it was pre-pandemic, and we are not the same people we were two years ago. I\u2019m certainly listening to music through fresh ears, but it took Dan\u2019s mix to cause me to meditate on these matters.<\/p>\n\n

I launched Soundwave to help cope with the stress and isolation of the pandemic lockdown. I told myself that once the pandemic was reasonably under control that the show would have served its purpose and that I\u2019d shutter the project. But it feels like there\u2019s still a reason for Soundwave to exist, and maybe exploring what music is in a post-pandemic world is it.<\/p>\n\n
