Today\u2019s mix began when I heard Yorkston, Thorne and Khan\u2019s cover of Dick Gaughan<\/a>\u2019s \u201cNow Westlin Winds.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

I had never heard of Gaughan, but I wanted to listen to the original song after hearing Yorkston, Thorne and Khan\u2019s cover. I pulled up Genius<\/a> to follow along with the lyrics<\/a>, which the trio closes their cover of \u201cNow Westlin Winds.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Now westlin winds and slaught\u2019ring guns
\nBring Autumn\u2019s pleasant weather;
\nThe moorcock springs on whirring wings
\nAmang the blooming heather;
\nNow waving grain, wide o\u2019er the plain
\nDelights the weary farmer;
\nAnd the moon shines bright, when I rove at night

The original song is lovely, but Yorkston finds the poetry in the lyrics, and I admit coming close to tears at times.<\/p>\n\n

Over the week, I came across other songs that seemed to cluster around \u201cWestlin Wind.\u201d They seemed to beg to be a mix, so I present them to you for your listening pleasure.<\/p>\n\n
