Today\u2019s guest deejay is Brian Sangmeister<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

I met Brian on Twitter<\/a>, but I\u2019m not sure how. I\u2019m sure it had something to do with our mutual love for guitars, ambient music, and horror. I recall listening to and enjoying his music but other than that, I don\u2019t know much about Brian, which is why I\u2019m going to interview him briefly on Instagram<\/a> today. If that goes well, you can expect to watch more interviews with guest deejays on Soundwave on Instagram.<\/p>\n\n

You\u2019re going to dig Brian\u2019s mix. It\u2019s of the caliber you\u2019ve come to expect from Soundwave. There are some surprises, like a track from the Pat Metheny Group<\/a>, and a track from guest deejay Roedelius<\/a>\u2019s Cluster<\/a> project with Brian Eno<\/a> (listen to Roedelius\u2019s Soundwave mix here<\/a>). You\u2019re in good hands.<\/p>\n\n

If you want to hear more music from Brian, he has a new song that is included in a charity album available on June 21, 2021, on Bandcamp from Audionautic Records<\/a>. The label will donate all proceeds to Project Hope<\/a>, which sends relief to South Asia and people worldwide. Several of the artists in today\u2019s mix will also be on the compilation.<\/p>\n\n

Firstly, Frank Riggio<\/a> recently released Empreinte Musicale 2<\/a><\/em>, which is part of his ongoing trilogy. I\u2019ve been listening to Frank\u2019s music for years, and listening to his evolution as a musician has been a delight. I\u2019m listening to Empreinte<\/em> as I write today\u2019s show notes, and I\u2019m enjoying the sonic territory he\u2019s trailblazing. Secondly, Friday, my wife and I took our 11-year-old cousin to see Cruella<\/a><\/em>. I had low expectations for Cruella<\/em>, but the movie was surprisingly good and a whole lot of fun. Honestly, it wouldn\u2019t have mattered if it was trash; I was just excited to go to a movie theater for the first time in over a year.<\/p>\n\n
