I have spent over 12 hours producing today\u2019s show. This last surge of nervous energy is only going to last so long so let me give you the low down on today\u2019s show before I collapse into a quivering heap of exhaustion.<\/p>\n
First off, I want to say goodbye to Adam Yauch<\/a>, or as we know him, MCA of the Beastie Boys<\/a>.<\/p>\n I wasn\u2019t a fan of their Licensed to Ill<\/a><\/i> album because I could never get past their douchebag posturing. But there was no ignoring their Paul\u2019s Boutique<\/a><\/i> album and Check Your Head<\/a><\/i> was virtually my soundtrack for 1992. As I was growing and maturing, the Beastie Boys were always a couple steps ahead of me, blazing the trail.<\/p>\n Adam passed away last week. I\u2019ll miss his wit, his compassion and his humanity. The world is a little colder place with one less Beastie. Namaste, Adam.<\/p>\n Life is for the living, so let\u2019s get on with it.<\/p>\n This year\u2019s Glade Festival<\/a> is less than a month away and we\u2019re going to bring it in with Benji Vaughan<\/a>, who will be performing along with Raja Ram<\/a> and Simon Posford<\/a> on the Origin Stage Twisted Sound System<\/a>. Between them, they are responsible for such ground-breaking music including, but not only, Shpongle<\/a>, Hallucinogen<\/a>, Younger Brother<\/a> and Prometheus<\/a>.<\/p>\n The MUTEK Festival<\/a> is also around the corner, taking place in Montreal May 30th to June 3rd. Last year<\/a> we spoke with MUTEK founder, Alain Mongeau<\/a>. This year we have the pleasure of talking with Patti Schmidt<\/a>, the curator, programmer and web editor for MUTEK. Patti also has the distinction of being the voice for the CBC<\/a>\u2018s Brave New Waves<\/a><\/i>, a music program that features music and culture from the \u201cfringes and the future.\u201d<\/p>\n We\u2019ll also talk with Vibin.fm<\/a>\u2018s founder, Brian O\u2019Toole<\/a>. Vibin.fm is the Pandora<\/a> of electronic music and Brian will explain how it all works, us how Vibin.fm works. Want to have a little fun?
