I\u2019m quite certain that the cold I\u2019m suffering from is not, in fact, a cold. It\u2019s something far more sinister and deadly. I\u2019m convinced that I\u2019ve contracted some alien contagion aloft some weird vector that will begin the zombie apocalypse beginning with me: patient zero!<\/p>\n
Okay, it\u2019s not that bad. I just wanted to add a bit of drama to today\u2019s show. I am sick, though, so by necessity I\u2019m going to be brief.<\/p>\n
For the last couple of weeks I\u2019ve been listening to the very excellent King Deluxe Presents: Year One<\/a><\/i> compilation album. As the title implies the album is a celebration of King Deluxe\u2019s first year as a label.<\/p>\n I usually wait until a label has been around a couple of years and had more releases under their belt before showcasing<\/a> them on solipsistic NATION<\/b>, but I thought it would be a shame not to turn you on to King Deluxe. That way you can say knew about them way back when when.<\/p>\n While King Deluxe is a collective it is effectively run by PK<\/a>, the label\u2019s founder, and he joins us today from his home in British Colombia.<\/p>\n Also joining us from San Diego is Miguel Vega<\/a>, who is the founder of Dataset Clothing<\/a>, which also happens to be a label that has just released the Future Sounds of San Diego<\/a><\/i> compilation album. EshOne<\/a> gave me the skinny on this album some months ago but even so I was still surprised to find that there were a lot of artists on the album I didn\u2019t recognize.
