It\u2019s been fun listening to dubstep with fresh ears with Florian. It\u2019s easy to forget that dubstep has only been around for the last ten years. Unless you\u2019re this kid<\/a>, who is going to grow up with dubstep, then it\u2019s easy to forgive if you\u2019ve never heard dubstep.<\/p>\n The first time I had heard of dubstep was back in 2002 when XLR8R<\/a><\/i> explored the genre. I had already heard the sound percolating through acts like Horsepower Productions but now the sound had a name. And who wouldn\u2019t want to get into dubstep? The genre\u2019s very name dripped with cool.<\/p>\n Dubstep quickly took off once it was championed by the likes of BBC Radio 1\u2019s John Peel and Mary Anne Hobbs. What was once an obscure scene now exploded into the mainstream. Well, as mainstream as a genres is going to get with it\u2019s two-step rhythm and depth-charge low-end bass is ever going to get. Dubstep is so pervasive and so easy to do wrong that I\u2019m almost sick<\/i> of dustep.<\/p>\n But not yet.<\/p>\n As today\u2019s show proves, dubstep hasn\u2019t even begun to play itself out.
