I really enjoy having lots of guests on solipsistic NATION<\/b>. It\u2019s a lot of fun to play on track from each artist and then have them comment on their music or what their process is in making music. There\u2019s something to be said about appreciating a song on its own merits but I also think it might make us appreciate a song a bit more when you hear the musician talk about their craft.<\/p>\n
But I have to tell you, these shows are a lot<\/i> of work.<\/p>\n
Getting today\u2019s show is the result of contacting everyone by phone or email and asking if an interview can be arranged. And then there are the follow up emails and phone calls. Not too mention coming up with a list of questions for the interviews, let alone doing the actual interview and then editing those interviews. Like I said, it\u2019s a lot of work.<\/p>\n
And that\u2019s why I am so very happy how great this week\u2019s show is when it came together!<\/p>\n
First of all, my guests are fantastic. We\u2019ll talk with everyone from Kraddy<\/a> about mashups to Margaret Noble<\/a> about her crowd funded 1984<\/a><\/i> project. And as an added bonus, a diverse as the genres of music on today\u2019s show are, they conveniently segue together and nothing sounds incongruous.<\/p>\n From Kraddy\u2019s glitch hop inspired mashup we careen off of two tracks from the Rare Grooves<\/a><\/i> album (which you can download for free<\/a>, by the way) Colin Steve drops some, ah, knowledge about Knowledge Magazine<\/a>. Rare Grooves<\/i> takes us to trance where we\u2019ll talk with Benoit Allirol about this years The Hadra Trance Festival<\/a> taking place in the French Alps. And somehow, I don\u2019t know how, this takes us to Carmen Rizzo<\/a>\u2018s gorgeous and melancholy music (if you dig Carmen\u2019s music then you also might like Lulu Rouge<\/a>, you can listen to my interview with them here<\/a>). Music from Carmen\u2019s album, Looking Through Leaves<\/a><\/i>, unfolds to the dub laden strains of Eraldo Bernocchi & Blackfilm<\/a>. I had Blackfilm<\/a> on the show<\/a> last year where he mentioned an upcoming project with Eraldo Bernocchi<\/a>. The album is called Along The Corridors<\/a><\/i> and it\u2019s simply amazing. And this takes us to Margaret\u2019s Noble\u2019s 1984<\/i> project.
