Once a month on solipsistic NATION<\/b> I feature a live performance<\/a> from an electronic musician and boy do I have a treat for you today because today\u2019s is a live set from The Orb<\/a> recorded at the A.B.<\/a> in Brussels September 25th of 2009! As an added bonus, we\u2019re also going to talk to The Orb\u2019s co-founder, Alex Paterson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Orb was founded by Alex Paterson and The KLF<\/a>\u2018s Jimmy Cauty<\/a> in 1988. The Orb began as ambient and dub DJs in London and developed a cult following among clubbers \u201ccoming down\u201d from drug-induced highs.<\/p>\n

The Orb has released nine studio albums to date as well as several remix albums and live albums and while there are many rotating members of The Orb Alex Paterson has always remained at The Orb\u2019s core.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m a huuuge fan of The Orb! One of my favorite memories of The Orb was listening with my soundman Harry to The Orb\u2019s Live 93<\/a><\/i> double album while out of our minds at WMFO<\/a>. At one point we were both leaning out the window staring at the sky howling as snow pelted our faces while The Orb\u2019s \u201cTowers of Dub\u201d throbbed over the speakers.<\/p>\n

As I said, I\u2019m a huge fan of The Orb and I love all their albums so I\u2019m thrilled to play their live set from Brussels and have Alex Paterson join us from his home in the UK!<\/p>\n
