solipsistic NATION<\/b> first aired on Free Radio San Diego<\/a> back in June of 2004 but I don\u2019t think the show really took off until I started doing it as a podcast last September.<\/p>\n

Back when I was doing pirate radio I did a freeform show but I found that I was playing so much electronic music that I thought it would be best for everyone if I a separate show that just focused on the electronic music and solipsistic NATION<\/b> was born.<\/p>\n

In a sense, solipsistic NATION<\/b> is still a freeform show and that was a deliberate move on my part. I love breakbeat, for example, but I would get bored very quickly if I had to play an hour of breakbeat week after week.<\/p>\n

One of the things I love about electronic music is that it will cannibalize anything that comes across it\u2019s way and then recontextualize it into something new and exciting. So I decided not to not limit myself to just one genre of electronic music. Instead, I wanted to play only the very best from all genres of electronic music.<\/p>\n

The only problem is that the software that we were using to spin music on Free Radio San Diego was so crude that it was incredibly difficult to do the kind of show that I had in mind. Once I started doing solipsistic NATION<\/b> as a podcast the kid gloves came off and I got very ambitious about the scope of the show.<\/p>\n

In the last year I\u2019ve done documentaries on Nerdcore<\/a> and Chiptunes<\/a>. I\u2019ve featured live performances from Deru<\/a> and Robert Rich<\/a>. I\u2019ve had guest DJs on the show such as Wayz<\/a> and Eve Falcon<\/a>, I\u2019ve also interviewed people from record labels such as Nacional Records<\/a> and Extreme Records<\/a> and more recently I interviewed Vivian Host, the editor of XLR8R magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what\u2019s coming down the feed in the next few months\u2026<\/p>\n

I\u2019m working on a documentary on Digital Hardcore<\/a> that I\u2019m very excited about. The documentary will feature interviews with Alec Empire<\/a>, members of Lolita Storm<\/a> and Shizou<\/a> and many more as well as some music that\u2019s going to destroy your speakers or melt your headphones. I\u2019m also working on a documentary about the Illbient<\/a> movement that come about in the mid 90s and that show will feature music and interviews from folks like Ben Neill<\/a> and DJ Wally<\/a> and many others. Another documentary I\u2019m putting together will focus on electroclash<\/a>. You can expect to hear interviews and music from Spray<\/a>, Electrosexual<\/a>, Noblesse Oblige<\/a> and much, much more!<\/p>\n

I\u2019m also going to continue to have guest DJs on the show. In October, Mikel OD from the Most People Are DJs<\/a> podcast will be spinning a mix of synthpop<\/a>. I also plan to have Anji Bee<\/a> from the Chillcast<\/a> come on the show with a mix of her own.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve got a very special show coming up in a few months that will feature an Exquisite Corpse<\/a> mix put together by a dozen DJs.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m also going to do more shows that feature electronic music from records labels such as Accretions<\/a>, Elektrotribe<\/a> and Ultimae Records<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m also going to continue to feature recordings of live performances and the next one coming up is a set by Hol Baumann<\/a> that I can promise will absolutely rock your world.<\/p>\n

In two weeks I\u2019m going to have Cheb I Sabbah<\/a> on the show for a chat as well as a retrospective mix of his musical career.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s quite a list and I\u2019ve got much, much, much more in store for you but that\u2019s just the stuff I can tell you about!<\/p>\n
