On today\u2019s show we\u2019ll chat with\u00a0Ned Raggett<\/a>\u00a0about the art of writing album reviews. Ned has been published in\u00a0AllMusic<\/a>,\u00a0The Quietus<\/a>,\u00a0Pitchfork<\/a>\u00a0and many other fine publications. While I\u2019ve been a deejay and a podcaster for several decades, I\u2019ve only done the odd album review. If I\u2019m going to do The Weekly Mix properly, I need to hone my skills at album reviews and who better to learn from than a master like Ned Raggett?<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve known Ned online for quiet a while and discovered him through my friend\u00a0Steve Howard<\/a>\u2019s Facebook feed. I\u2019ve always been impressed with his insightful album reviews as well as his political commentary. When I launched the\u00a0Pop Culture Intelligentsia<\/a>\u00a0podcast I invited him to become a co-host because I respect his skill as a wordsmith and I knew he\u2019d really add to the roundtable. Due to Ned\u2019s busy schedule he rarely appears on the show but when he does he delivers the goods. The best example I can give was when Ned came on Pop Culture Intelligentsia to\u00a0review<\/a>\u00a0Kendrick Lamar\u2019s\u00a0To Pimp A Butterfly<\/a><\/em>\u00a0album.<\/p>\n
